Every year approximately 200,000 people die from unintentional injury.

Unintentional Injury is the leading cause of death for children  the United States. Former US Surgeon General C. Everett Koop once said

"If a disease were killing our children at the rate unintentional injuries are, the public would be outraged and demand that this killer be stopped"

The National Injury Prevention Council was formed to help stop this killer.

The National Injury Prevention Council seeks to promote injury prevention efforts to save lives and minimize injury through research, programming, professional development and outreach.
